Maricopa Economic Development Alliance Announces New Principal

PHOENIX, AZ – February 4, 2021

The Board of Directors of the Maricopa Economic Development Alliance (MEDA) announced today that it has hired Adam Saks as its first Executive Director.

“We are excited to have someone of Adam’s business acumen and success join the MEDA organization as we continue to intensify our focus on business development and deal generation for the City of Maricopa,” said John Schurz, Chairman and CEO.

In his capacity, Mr. Saks will be responsible for managing MEDA’s operations as well as business development and lead generation activities. “Maricopa’s quality of life, talented and highly educated citizenry and business locations advantages are among the many advantages the city has to offer to employers,” said Adam Saks. “The pandemic has impacted how and where companies locate jobs, and MEDA is at the forefront of understanding these emerging trends, and already has made inroads with key influencers in the national site location arena,” he said.

Adam Saks is a well-known business and community leader in Maricopa. Previously, he served as President of Dynamic Entertainment Group, and established and built the first UltraStar Multi-tainment Center in the U.S., which was in partnership with the Ak-Chin Indian Community. In his eight years at the helm of this enterprise, Mr. Saks helped to build a new category of destination entertainment in Arizona. His business and civic leadership includes serving as a board member of the MEDA Board of Directors; Board Treasurer of the Maricopa Community Foundation; Chair of the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce; Vice Chair of First Things First of Pinal County, and former board member of Playworks Arizona.

In July 2020, MEDA assumed for the first time business development functions that had previously been part of the City of Maricopa’s former economic development structure.  “During these past six months, MEDA has built the internal infrastructure and initiated outreach and personal visits to some of the nation’s leading site location consultants,” Rick Horst, Maricopa City Manager, reports. “With Adam on board, we expect to see an intensified focus on connecting with these and others who influence business locations.”

Maricopa Mayor Christian Price said, “We are excited about where MEDA is and where this vitally important partnership is going, and having Adam Saks serving in this new capacity as we continue to navigate through these unprecedented times and capitalize on new opportunities for business and job creation is a decided advantage for our community.”
